In October, the IPFC will host its 11th annual conference in Dallas, Texas. During the conference, advocates and families from around the world will strive to advance the goals of creating a sense of community and collective advocacy against mass incarceration.
Our conference theme is: “Closing the Empathy Gap by Humanizing Justice.” The conference goals are to ensure that families of incarcerated individuals have a safe space to come together as a unit to build upon their strengths, develop strategies for empowerment, and a create a path forward. Additionally, we provide a conference platform for keynote speakers, panelists, and presenters — an opportunity to share knowledge and collaborate or network to build capacity and outreach, and to brainstorm innovative ideas to reduce the adverse impacts on family systems. Academics are welcomed to present their concept papers as well.
The Advocacy in Action Coalition (AIAC) holds its annual meeting to discuss strategies for the upcoming year. This meeting is chaired by Dr. Avon Hart-Johnson.
